Psychiatric Rehabilitation Providers
In Maryland, a psychiatric rehabilitation program (PRP) is an accreditation-based licensed program that provides community-based comprehensive rehabilitation, recovery services, supports and promotes successful community integration and use of community resources. Services for the program are provided onsite, offsite, or a combination of both. It is available to both youth and adults, and includes:

Support to patients in developing community and independent living skills

A focus on the participants recovery with the goal of the participant improving

Facilitating the individual’s recovery and successful functioning
Requirements for Developing a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program for Adults (PRP-A) and Minors (PRP - M).
A. Provide community-based comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery services and supports, including, but not limited to:
(1) Community living skills.
(2) Activities of daily living; and
(3) Family and peer support.
(4) Promote resiliency,
(5) Facilitate the development or restoration of appropriate skills in an individual younger than 18 years old including but not limited to:
(6) Self-care skills.
(7) Social, peer, family, and teacher interactions; and
(8) Semi-independent living skills
B. Promote successful community integration and use of community resources.
C. Be under the direction of a rehabilitation specialist who is:
(1) A licensed mental health professional; (Innovation Counselors can assist with this)
(2) Certified by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification; or
(3) Certified by the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association; and
(4) Employed at least 20 hours per week when the program serves less than 30 individuals; or 40 hours per week when the program serves 30 individuals or more.
